Little things....

So today I was walking through the student center to go do some homework. I noticed what looked like a little man walking around kinda talking to himself. I realized that he had downsyndrome, and he looked very lost and confused. I saw a few other people had noticed the same thing that I had but nobody was moving to go to help him, so I decided to be the better person and see if he needed help. I walked up and asked him if he needed help finding something. He told me that he couldn't find his class and he didn't know where he was. I walked around with him to pretty much all the classrooms downstairs to see if he recognized any of them. we kept passing them and he'd call out to his friends, as he liked to call them. At one of the last classrooms he saw somebody he knew and started jumping and screaming his name and told me that was his classroom. I opened the door and he went in, I went to turn around and he yelled after me ran and gave me a HUGE hug and told me he loved me. It was literally one of the sweetest things that's ever happened to me. He was just so grateful that I had helped him. I wish everyone was like that, just grateful for the little things in life.
I guess it got me thinking that maybe I might want to do something to do with special education for adults or kids. I signed up to be a "best buddy" so i guess we will see if it's something that I really want to do. I think something like that would be one of the most rewarding jobs there is. I think with whatever I do I just want to make a difference in someone's life.
